Shades sold separately
A shade outlives the base it came on more often than not, so every shade is stocked on its own in the sizes our bases take, and the fitter type is stated.
Drop length stated before you buy
Pendants list the flex supplied and the shortest and longest drop they can hang at, so a kitchen island does not end up with a light at head height.
